The UAE- India Food Security Summit – 2020 organised by Consulate General of India, Dubai, Confederation of Indian Industry and India Invest has unveiled the Food Corridor Project between the two countries which will triple the exports of agricultural produces from India to UAE, rising the current export of $2.2 billion trade to $ 6 to $ 7 billion.
Following are the main catch of the project:
- With this project, Madhya Pradesh, one of the agrarian States in India will have eight food processing units with UAE funding.
- The DP World, Dubai is offering integrated supply chain solutions.
- Dubai’s Multi Commodity Centre (DMCC), a global free zone is collaborating with India’s Crop Data Technology to launch a tech driven agri commodity trading and sourcing platform – “Agriota” which will help bridge the gap between Indian farmers and UAE food industry and importers.
- 5000 hectares of agricultural land has been earmarked in Indian State of Punjab for organic farming and a dedicated desk namely Invest Punjab, to cater to the investors from UAE.
The project will benefit 2 million farmers and create 200,000 jobs in India. The project will open huge opportunity for investments and agricultural sector in India.
