Disputes concerning personal affairs such as alimony, custody of children, dowry, complaints on visiting by non-custodial parents etc. will now be settled in a single session. The issuance of this rule is under the ‘Regulatory Procedures Guide on Personal Affairs’. The new regulatory guide will cut time and effort and will help the stability of the family. The guide offers solutions and clarifications on personal matters in accordance with the Islamic law.
The guide proposes quick solution to verdict on personal status petitions, travel bans and permissions, liquidation of disputed estates, etc. One of the major changes is the standardization of alimony stipulation guaranteeing a decent living for the spouse and children. The amount will be decided by the court which will be around 60 percent of the income and will also take into consideration the loans deducted. The guide also states that non-custodial parents cannot accompany a fostered child below 2 years.
