Trademark

A trademark is a legally protected symbol, logo, name, or slogan used to distinguish a brand or product. In the UAE, trademarks are registered under Federal Law No. 36 of 2021 on Trademarks, with applications processed by the Ministry of Economy. The UAE is also a signatory to the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, allowing international brand owners to extend trademark protection to the UAE. Registered trademarks provide exclusive rights for 10 years (renewable) and can be enforced through legal action or trademark infringement lawsuits in UAE courts.
