Key Developments Presented at the Workshop

Reduced Fees for SMEs and Residents

In a significant move to nurture innovation, the MoE announced a 50% reduction in application, examination, registration, and annuity fees for UAE residents and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Accelerated Processing Times

The Ministry revealed its successful reduction of patent and design processing times from a lengthy 42 months to a swift 6 months. This milestone was achieved through advanced IT system upgrades, enhancing the speed and efficiency of examinations. 

Patent Hive Milestone

The Patent Hive initiative celebrated a record 6,000 new patent registrations, underlining the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its innovation ecosystem and economic resilience. 

Initiatives Driving Economic Growth

Programs such as RiSe (Reinforcing Intangibles to Strengthen the Economy) and specialized financing assessments were unveiled to fortify competitiveness and empower local institutions in the innovation landscape. 

Knowledge and Creativity-Focused Initiatives

The launch of the IP School, IP Guardians, and unique collaborations—like a video game championship in partnership with Emirates National Schools—highlighted the UAE’s dedication to fostering a knowledge-driven society. 

Trademark Achievements

With over 370,600 trademarks registered, the UAE continues to lead the region in implementing robust federal IP legislation and streamlining application and dispute resolution processes.
