November 10, 2025by Aeron Abraham Thomas0

The DIFC Courts continue to cement their reputation as one of the world’s leading commercial courts, as reflected in their Q3 2025 statistics. The latest figures demonstrate growing trust from international corporations, regional enterprises, and investors who rely on the Courts for fair, efficient, and globally recognised dispute resolution.

DIFC Courts Record AED 10.7 Billion in Total Claims

In the third quarter of 2025, the DIFC Courts handled 400 claims, representing a total value of AED 10.7 billion, with an average claim value of AED 39 million. Case activity remained steady across all divisions including the Court of First Instance, Arbitration Division, and Small Claims Tribunal underscoring the Court’s ability to handle high-value, complex cross-border disputes.

99% of Hearings Conducted Remotely

A standout feature of the DIFC Courts is their digital-first approach: 99% of hearings are conducted remotely, making the Courts highly accessible to international parties. Remote hearings span all divisions, including multi-day commercial trials, reinforcing Dubai’s smart governance and digital justice vision.

A Global Standard for English-Language Dispute Resolution

The DIFC Courts have long served as the region’s foremost forum for English-language dispute resolution, offering world-class judicial expertise grounded in international best practices. Businesses continue to choose the DIFC jurisdiction for its neutrality, enforceability of judgments, and innovative digital processes that streamline case management and accessibility.

Key Judgments Highlighting DIFC Courts’ Impact

  • Carmon Reestrutura v Cuenda (2024) – Confirmed the DIFC Courts’ jurisdiction to grant interim relief in support of foreign proceedings, enhancing asset-protection capabilities for cross-border disputes.
  • Sandra Holding Ltd v Al Saleh (2023) – Highlighted the Court’s earlier restrictive approach on freezing orders, which was later clarified and broadened by the Carmon ruling.
  • Neal v Nadir (2024) – Affirmed that the DIFC Courts can enforce interim measures even for arbitrations seated outside the DIFC, expanding their role in supporting international arbitration.
  • Industrial Group v El Fadil Hamid (2022) – Clarified that while DIFC law is common-law inspired, English torts do not automatically apply, reinforcing the Courts’ independent legal framework.

Innovation, Technology, and Integrity Drive Progress

Beyond the figures, the DIFC Courts’ success story is built on innovation, technology, and integrity. Digital transformation initiatives, remote hearings, and paperless workflows have revolutionized access to justice, making the Courts a hub for efficient, transparent dispute resolution.

These advancements reinforce Dubai’s vision to strengthen its position as a global hub for finance, trade, and dispute resolution, ensuring the DIFC Courts remain at the forefront of judicial excellence in the MENA region and beyond.
