Patent

A patent is a legal right granted to inventors, giving them exclusive control over their invention for a specified period. In the UAE, patents are protected under Federal Law No. 11 of 2021 on Industrial Property, with applications submitted to the UAE Ministry of Economy. The UAE is also a signatory to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), allowing inventors to seek international patent protection. Patents cover technological innovations, industrial processes, and new product designs, but must meet novelty, non-obviousness, and industrial applicability criteria. Patent holders can license, sell, or enforce their rights against infringers in UAE courts.
