Corporate Governance
Corporate governance refers to the set of rules, practices, and processes used to direct and control a company. In the UAE, governance regulations are set out under Federal Decree-Law No. 32 of 2021 on Commercial Companies, with additional governance codes issued by regulatory bodies like the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA). Listed companies, banks, and large corporations are subject to stricter governance requirements, including board composition, shareholder rights, and financial reporting. Strong governance frameworks enhance investor confidence and reduce risks associated with fraud, mismanagement, and regulatory violations.
