ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution)

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) refers to legal processes such as mediation and arbitration used to settle disputes without going to court. The UAE is a strong proponent of ADR, with institutions like the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), Abu Dhabi Global Market Arbitration Centre (ADGM), and DIFC-LCIA offering world-class arbitration services. Many commercial contracts, including those in construction and trade, include arbitration clauses to expedite dispute resolution. ADR is particularly favorable in the UAE due to the confidentiality, efficiency, and enforceability of arbitration awards under the UAE’s adoption of the New York Convention.
