« Back to Glossary IndexOmbudsman
An ombudsman is an independent official appointed to handle complaints and disputes between businesses, government entities, or the public. While the UAE does not have a centralized ombudsman system, regulatory authorities such as the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), and UAE Consumer Protection Department serve similar roles by investigating complaints, enforcing fair practices, and ensuring regulatory compliance. In banking, insurance, and financial services, the Central Bank of the UAE provides a dispute resolution mechanism for consumer complaints against financial institutions.
