« Back to Glossary IndexOffshore Company
An offshore company is a business entity registered in a UAE offshore jurisdiction that operates outside the UAE but enjoys tax benefits, asset protection, and confidentiality. The UAE has several offshore jurisdictions, including Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA Offshore), RAK International Corporate Centre (RAK ICC), and Ajman Offshore, each offering unique corporate structuring advantages. Offshore companies cannot conduct business within the UAE mainland but are often used for holding assets, international trade, and investment activities. Unlike free zone companies, offshore companies do not require a physical office or UAE residency visas but must comply with economic substance regulations (ESR) and anti-money laundering (AML) laws.
