Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) refer to the process of consolidating businesses through ownership transfers, asset purchases, or strategic partnerships. The UAE regulates M&A transactions under Federal Decree-Law No. 32 of 2021 on Commercial Companies, with additional sector-specific rules set by the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) and the UAE Central Bank. Foreign entities acquiring UAE-based firms must comply with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) regulations, and transactions involving listed companies are subject to public disclosure and shareholder approval requirements. M&A deals are common in the UAE’s real estate, banking, healthcare, and technology sectors, often involving due diligence, regulatory approvals, and competition law compliance.
