General Counsel

A General Counsel (GC) is the chief legal officer of a company, responsible for overseeing all legal matters, corporate compliance, and risk management. In the UAE, large corporations, financial institutions, and multinational companies typically appoint GCs to navigate complex legal frameworks, regulatory compliance, and cross-border transactions. General Counsels work closely with external legal consultants, ensuring that businesses comply with UAE corporate law, commercial regulations, employment laws, and industry-specific rules. Given the fast-evolving regulatory landscape in the UAE, the role of a GC is critical in handling legal strategy, dispute resolution, and government relations.
