Human Rights Law
Human rights law in the UAE is governed by Federal Law No. 51 of 2006 on Combating Human Trafficking, labor laws, and constitutional protections that guarantee fair treatment, anti-discrimination, and workers’ rights. The UAE has ratified international conventions on labor rights, anti-human trafficking, and workplace equality, ensuring that employees—both Emiratis and expatriates—are treated with dignity. While the UAE does not have a single comprehensive human rights code, laws such as Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 on Labor Relations establish guidelines for employment protections, anti-harassment policies, and wage security (Wage Protection System – WPS). The National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) monitors compliance and human rights developments across the country.
